Which sweetener is best on the HCG Diet?

Dr. Simeon’s states in Pounds and Inches “Saccharin or other sweeteners may be used.” YourHCG has found the best sweetener to use while on HCG is Liquid Stevia.

Artificial sweeteners in other products will slow down results and can actually stall you. There are a lot of different sweeteners on the market that are all natural, and not bad for you. For example, Truvia is great for Phase 3, but cannot be used on Phase 2 because it contains Erythritol which is derived from grapes & pears, which are not allowed on Phase 2.

It is always best to check the ingredients on all products to ensure they are in fact sugar free. There are a lot of hidden sugars such as dextrose, glucose, and fructose. Anything ending in -OSE is a sugar.

Stevia is a very strong sweetener and can be used in very little amounts to sweeten a drink or food. A few simple drops will give the food the desired sweetness you are aiming for.

      I was wondering the same thing. I lost 30 lbs on this HCG last year. I have gained a few pounds in the past few months..Stress will do that to me! I always used Splenda, and still lost weight. Any reason why I should change?

        Were you hungry? I ate a lot on the first two days of the diet, but I am finding that I am really hungry on day 2 of the diet. I am drinking water and green tea, but still hungry. Just want to know if it is normal and will disapate in the next few days.

          Yes, it is normal to be hungry. However, I have found that if I eat my apple in the morning as one of my 2 daily snacks, then I’m not very hungry until lunch time. You can also take more hcg to help calm the cravings. The drops I purchased contained vitamin B-12 and some thyroid supplement, so that helped as well. Good Luck Teresa! and stay strong!!             You can use your apple peeled or non peeled and take the core almost all the way out, save a little to hold juices. Add as much cinnamon as you like and maybe a few sprays of the spray butter, then add sweetner, wrap in aluminum foil and bake 20 min at 400 degrees or until tender, or wrap in waxed paper and microwave 15 minutes, or until tender. Its very good. But the hunger will get better as your body cleans out the sugar and starches, about 7 days. I’ve lost 50lbs, started again today for 30lbs more.

    Natural substitutes are always a better choice than artificial sweeteners. Stuff like Splenda messes with your body’s natural ability to count carbs and calories. Stevia on the other hand suppresses cravings. I’ve been using it myself for a long time now. No headaches, better overall feeling of well-being. No more artificial sweeteners for me!

    will somebody that knows what there talking about just answer the damn question? can you use truvia on the hcg diet? some say yes, are they the stick by the book to the end type or can you use it and still get the same results? I know several that use truvia and I know some that use splendia and will argue till there blue in the face over it? So I guess the real answer is nobody knows what there talking about?

      I read in here somewhere in all this information that stevia is the best to use in phase 1 and truvia can be used in phase 2. They said that truvia came from the sugars in pears and peaches which you cant have in phase 1 of the diet. Hope that helps.

    I think everyone’s body is different. I have used Stevia and Truvia interchangeably in the past year. I have suffered a couple setbacks in my two rounds, once with tuna (I think) and another I have no idea. It could have been the Truvia. I say find what works for you and stick to it. No need to keep experimenting and dealing with setbacks if one of the two works for you. I have used the liquid Stevia flavored drops and also the Stevia packets, but I use them so sparingly because I don’t sweeten many things. Hope that helps and you have much success!

    I was told that SweetLeaf brand of Stevia was the best to buy – it is supposed to be the purest. They have really good drops available too in different flavors – Chocolate – Cinnamon, etc.

    If you want good flavor drops, check out Capella Flavor Drops. No sugar, no alcohol, etc. And they have *ALL* kinds of flavors, from bacon to eggnog plus the more common.

    I just want to let other HCG dieters know I was up to 25lb loss and was using stevia EXTRACT powder, I ended up switching to Truvia and gained 10 lbs in just a few days. I was very upset with this blog. There is also Stevia packets that you cannot have…

    I just started the HCG and today is day 3.
    I feel great have a lot of energy, an my mind isn’t so “foggy” anymore.
    I also walk the school track twice , once after lunch , n once after dinner.
    At this point all I am eating is a thin slice of oven toasted chicken breast(deli) that’s lunch.
    An for dinner a unbreaded chicken breast, an I weigh everything.
    I started at 217 an this am was 211
    Excited to see results!!!
