Tips To Help Kids Lose Weight

HCG To Help Kids Lose Weight

Human Chorionic Gonadatropin, more commonly referred to as HCG is a hormone that allows your body to pull additional calories directly from your excess fat. So when combined with a low calorie diet dieters can experience amazing weight loss with no hunger or weakness.  However, we often get calls from concerned parents asking if their children would benefit from HCG to help with child obesity.   However, not only is HCG a very strict diet that smaller children lacking self discipline would have a very difficult time following but HCG is a hormone and is not recommended for anyone under the age of 18 unless under their doctor’s direct approval and supervision.

Instead, it is recommended to make lifestyle changes for the younger generation that will help them to shed unhealthy weight and build great habits which will keep them from needing supplements in the future.  It’s not recommended to put any child on a drastic diet.  Small changes can go a long way to help kids lose weight.

Recommendations To Help Kids Lose Weight

Suggest your children drink 1-2 cups of water 30 minutes before meals which will help keep children from over eating. Encourage healthy snacking (fruits, vegetables and Yogurt are a few examples) throughout the day to help boost metabolism. It is best to graze instead of having 2-3 large meals only.  Also, try making only enough food for everyone to have one serving… if there are no left overs then there is no temptation to eat more just because it tastes good.  If you do have left overs, suggest they wait 15-20 minutes before having seconds, often times it will take that long for your brain to register that you are full and they will not want 2nds.  Try to only provide sweets and candy for special occasions instead of a daily a treat.

And of course, to help kids lose weight, encourage physical activity. Limit the amount of time they are allowed to sit in front of the tv or play video games. Encourage your children to ride bikes or go for a walk as a family after dinner. Doing these simple things can help to slim down your child and create healthy habits that will be beneficial well into adulthood and may prevent the need for diets such as HCG in future.
