HCG Diet and Exercise

Should you exercise on the HCG diet?

What kind of exercise should you do for the HCG diet to work?  Here is a brief article to help you better understand the HCG diet and exercise.

There is no need to do high-intensity workouts and exercising while on the HCG diet.  In fact, these types of exercise are not recommended while on phase 2 of the diet.  While you are one phase 2 of the diet, it may actually be dangerous to exercise in a high-intensity manner.  This is because your body is already using so many calories from the stored fat in your body.  So it is not recommended that you exercise too much on the HCG diet because you burn even more calories at such a high rate.  This can be dangerous, and if you choose to do high-intensity workouts, such as heavy weights, cardiovascular workouts like running, circuit training or high intensity aerobics, you have to be aware that there is a possibility that you may pass out or become dehydrated rather quickly.  Be sure that if you choose these types of exercise that you keep an eye on your heart rate and drink plenty of water.

 

Recommended Exercise While on the HCG diet

So what type of exercise is recommended on the HCG diet?  Dr. Simeons recommends walking and yoga.  Walking 15 minutes per day is one of the best ways to ensure you are getting the proper amount of exercise while on the HCG diet.  Be sure to drink plenty of water and walk at a steady pace.  Don’t run or jog, because that is considered a high-intensity workout.

Yoga is great for increasing strength and flexibility.  It is also a great way to make a mind and body connection and get your body back into balance, which is what the HCG diet is all about.  Yoga is a great way to build lean muscle and gain strength.  The great thing about the HCG diet is that you will not lose any muscle mass, you only burn fat.  So if you build up more lean muscle mass with yoga, when you lose the weight on the diet, you will be left with a tight and toned body.  Yoga can be used several times per week on the HCG diet.

 

Exercise After the HCG Diet

Although there are some restrictions on exercise on the HCG drops, once you are finished with the hormones you may return to any form of exercise.

    I am on day 4 of the HCG diet and lost 2lbs. I have a 2 part question. The first, two days ago I started the diet, I ate any and everything as the diet states, but when I got on the scale it read 5lbs more than when I started. Is this normal? The second part of my question, can the HCG make you gain weight? I thank you for your response. I need some encouragement on this day to continue.

      Melissa, don’t be discouraged, the diet works if you follow the protocols. Read everything there is to read on the HCG blog and there is also a help line you can call if necessary; both of these resources are very helpful. The reason for eating so much on the first 2 days is to help you get through the first week without feeling super hungry.

    I am currently on HCG and have lost 25 pounds in a 40 day cycle (on day 31 right now). My question is, when can I begin weight loss without HCG? I have read many articles on the last phases (P3 and P4) of the HCG protocol and it says that weight cannot go up or down by more than two pounds. My problem is that, I may not want to go on this diet again. When could I begin weight loss just using diet and exercise without the HCG? In reading various manuscripts, that option is never given. It only talks about additional rounds of HCG if further weight loss is desired. If I only want to lose 5 more pounds, I think repeating a cycle might be a little extreme. Has anyone heard anything of when you can do a normal diet and exercise routine after completing HCG?

      Hi De,
      What rounds are you on? You need to do Maintenance based on the round of the diet you are doing.

      Once you are finished with Maintenance, you can begin to lose weight either with the HCG again or on your own. Maintenance needs to be a minimum of 6 weeks after the first round of HCG, a minimum of 8 weeks after the second, 12 weeks after the third and 20 weeks after the fourth.
